2018 Blissful Holiday Gift Guide

Last year I put together a list of gift ideas for the health nut in your life, and this year I decided to widen my scope a little bit and just give you a bunch of BLISSFUL gift ideas ✨ Blissful is a vague term, I know, so I’m breaking it down into four categories that personally bring me a lot of bliss: stationery, food, books, and fitness-related gifts.

I’ve included links and prices for each gift to make them easier to shop! Hope you enjoy!

For the one who is obsessed with stationery

1. Lavendaire Artist of Life 2019 Workbook
$38 for physical workbook, $20 for PDF download

Lavendaire might be my favorite YouTube channel of all-time. Aileen condenses her lifestyle and productivity lessons into a yearly workbook (not a planner). I have yet to purchase one but it has received many positive reviews and is a great way to help your recipient get the year started on the right note.

2. Stickii Stickers
$10/month + shipping

Give them a few months of the best subscription service I can possibly think of - sheets of adorable stickers delivered to your mailbox. Buy them a couple of months of the subscription for a gift that will last them long past the holidays!

3. Zebra Mildliners, Set of 15

People are always asking me where I got my Zebra Mildliners because the colors just blow regular highlighters straight out of the water. I’ve never had problems with them bleeding through paper, AND they’re double-sided (chisel and fine-tip). Note-taking is 10x more fun with these.

4. Fringe Studio notebooks

Get a beautiful faux leather journal from Fringe. You choose whether your friend would prefer the notebook to display an inspirational motto like “Be you. Do you. For you” or just a painfully relatable snippet like “I came. I saw. I made it awkward”.

5. Moleskine Classic Notebook

Never underestimate the power of a simple, good-quality notebook. There’s always something you can do with a blank notebook *wink wink*.

For the one who loves a good book

1. The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur

When it comes to books, I love giving poetry books because the recipient can read them over and over, share little snippets with friends, and interpret it in a way that applies to their life. For this gift guide, I chose The Sun and Her Flowers because we all know that Rupi Kaur is a legend.

2. A Book That Takes Its Time (A Flow Book)

The description reads “Take time to breathe. Take time to create. Take time to reflect, take time to let go” and I think that perfectly describes this book by the creators of Flow magazine. The subscription to the magazine is a bit pricey for customers outside of Germany and France, but this book version packs plenty of colorful illustrations, interactive activities, and little paper bits and bobs to play with.

3. Luminescence by Brandon Woelfel

For the friend who is obsessed with Brandon Woelfel’s vibrant, light-filled photography (because who isn’t?). This book is filled with 218 full-color photographs, and reviewers say that his photography looks even better on paper than on a screen.

4. Things Are What You Make of Them by Adam J. Kurtz

The tagline reads “Life advice for creatives”, but it’s really just good life advice. It’s delivered in little tidbits, handwritten on torn sheets of notepad paper on colorful backgrounds, so it’s the perfect coffee table book.

For the foodie

1. Pearl Butter

These coconut butters just beg to be photographed for Instagram. They come in beautiful colors, and… interesting names like “Not Pot Butter”, “Fairy Berry”, and the newest flavor - “Orgasm”. Hm. A bonus - they have an impressive online library in which they explain the health benefits of each ingredient that they use, with links to the research studies that have proven/suggested those benefits!

2. Coconut Bowl

Don’t underestimate the value of a pretty bowl. Just one unique bowl creates countless more photo combinations for their smoothie bowl Instagram posts. These coconut bowls are about as unique as it gets, and they’re eco-friendly. What more can you ask for?

3. Endangered Species Chocolate
About $3 per bar

Maybe I’m just biased (I’m a chocoholic), but you can never go wrong with chocolate.

4. Avocado pillow

Placing this in the food category is a stretch, but it’s too cute to leave out.

For the one who loves to move

1. Bando Taco Gym Bag

For the friend who has been toting their gym clothes in an old backpack for far too long, this colorful gym bag can also double as a carry-on for traveling.

2. Healthy Human Water Bottle
$28.99 for a 21oz stein

You need to hydrate before, during, and after every workout, and if your friend is always losing their water bottle *cough* me *cough*, a new water bottle might come in handy. These Healthy Human water bottles are reusable, BPA-free, and made of stainless steel.

3. VUP Running Armband

Science might have brought us wireless headphones but we still don’t have phones that magically float and follow us around. That’s what armbands are for. This one fits a variety of phones (still be sure to check, though) and allows for 180-degree rotation to make your screen easier to access.

4. Gaiam Yoga Mat

Get them a nice, thick, cushiony mat that’ll come in handy for everything from yoga to pilates to at-home workouts on hard floors.

That’s all for this gift guide! I tried to include gifts for a variety of budgets, and if you’re subscribed to the Bliss Bean newsletter, you’ll also receive some free gift ideas in your inbox for today’s edition!

What is on your wishlist this holiday season?

Wishing you the happiest of holidays,
Beatrice x

Mindful mavens

A Book That Takes Its Time: An Unhurried Adventure in Creative Mindfulness22.00
The book is chock-full of everything you need for a relaxing afternoon of self-care: list-making, doodling, ideas for making a beautiful moments jar, stickers,  and more cute illustrations than I could handle when I picked up this book at Barnes & Noble. I resisted the urge to buy it, as I was there to buy a friend’s gift, but it is definitely on my Christmas wishlist.

A month of Headspace, 12.99
There are many meditation apps out there, but few as beautiful and simple as Headspace. To access the whole range of content requires a subscription, however. While a year comes in at just under 100 dollaroos, you can give your friend a month of Headspace. They may continue to subscribe after that, or it may serve as a jumping off point for their meditation journey. Meditation has helped me be a happier, calmer, more creative person.

Trust the Universe Keytag, 8.00
simple, beautiful reminder.

Once all the holiday shopping is done, it's time to TREAT YOSELF. What item from this list would you most want? I'm going for the "Book That Takes Its Time". I'm a sucker for pretty paper.

Happy holidays!
